When I type alsaconf in the Konsole it automatically goes to a configurator asking what sound card I want to use.(nm256, opl3sa2, legacy) When I enter cat /proc/asound/modules nothing shows up.

I solved the mouse problem by just using the mouse as a usb device.

Is there anyway I can the mousepad to work on the laptop? |

lol, (laughing at himself) mousepad should have told me you were using a laptop.

hmm, cat /proc/asound/modules shows nothing

Can you show me the output of

lspci

cat /proc/interrupts

cat /proc/ioports

You can try running alsaconf again, the NM256 "should" work if not try the opl3sa2 (I believe all of them are part of the Yamaha opl3sa2 family) if those 2 above don't work try legacy.

Please post back if it works/don't work |

You should have something like this in your xorg.conf for the mousepad

  Protocol "PS/2"

  Device "/dev/psaux"

  SampleRate 60

  Emulate3Buttons

I think qsynaptics is intended to help with the touchpad and is included with Kanotix, but I don't know anything about it. |
