Titel: Have to wake up scanner with Gimp or xsane?

| I'm using vuescan for scanning my dia-slides. Yesterday I got my Epson perfection 4490 photo to work with installation of two drivers from avasys. When I connect the scanner (usb) and start vuescan it doesn't find a scanner. Then I start Gimp and xscanimage then the scanner wakes up (I here it start and warm up). Then I can quit Gimp and start Vuescan and then it finds the scanner. It feels a little weard to have to wake the scanner this way, is there a nother way, any suggestions? |

It's a known bug of vuescan - I sent in an error log and got the response - "let us know if you fix it, don't know why it happens" - I just run xsane once to wake it up.
