Code:

Section "Device"
   Option   "AccelMethod"      "exa"
Option   "MergedFB"      "0" # conflicts with exa's 2d acceleration, making your desktop very slow if enabled
EndSection

EXA still needs some work. With this fix, it's still not as fast as it was originally with xorg 7.0.

Also ' Option "AccelDFS" ' didn't seem to speed up desktop rendering enough for me to notice it.

The following options slow down exa, disable them if you use it
Code:

Option "AccelDFS" # this is supposed to "Accelerate Downloads From Screen" but all it does is have a negative impact on your performance
Option "backingstore" # this speeds up scrolling with xaa, but exa apparently has its own method and this gets in its way

Oh, and if any of you have no idea what exa is, check out the following link
