My experience so far...

Linksys WPC54G v.2 (PCMCIA) has TI chip and works well out of the box with Kanotix 2006-01 rc 4 (2.6.18) with its acx100/111 support inside. Inherited this from ex-girlfriend. Probably most useful thing she ever gave me, well almost. It's a keeper.

Belkin F5D7011 v.1212 (PCMCIA) has Broadcom 4318 chip (not 4306) which does not work despite bcm43xx. Tried blacklisting module. Tried fwcutter for the firmware. Tried ndiswrapper. It will recognize networks in the vicinity but never accept dhcp offer. I have read that the 4306 works well. Has anyone gotten the 4318 to work?

Airlink 101 AWLL3026 USB adapter has zd1211rw, not the 1211 or 1211b. Bought it yesterday at Fry's for $9.99. Does not work out of the box, despite the good results others have had with the 1211/1211b. Any suggestions?

I don't have router at home (seems all of the neighbors do however.) Just want to use the laptop at the cafe, library, etc where there is public access. Using Uniwill 755IA0, 3 Ghz, P4.

Very pleased with Kanotix... flawless install. Looks sharp.

Thanks for all the hard work you do on this project.

Wallace

I'm having the same problems with 2006 RC 4 in reference to the BCM4813 chipset. I have tried ndiswrapper, the Control Center interface, "ifup eth1", "ifconfig eth1 up", and... nothing. I haven't tried the fwcutter method yet, but my guess is that it won't work.

I remember reading somewhere that BCM chipsets were supposed to work natively in the new kernel... that's not the case for me. I thought I could just click "Enable Interface" and VOILA, but ... that didn't happen.

I got it to work once, and never worked again.

Very strange.

@wahmd: apt-get install zd1211rw-firmware before that module begins to work.
