Hello all,
I'm new to linux and have thus far gotten all my hardware to function properly. I have a laptop and running kanotix 2006 easter. My soundcard does not seem to be working. I've done the alsaconf command selected the available soundcard (intel8x0) and configured the rest. Then i did alsamixer to raise the volume on all. Then i used kmix to raise volume aswell. I open xmms and it seems to play fine except the fact that there is no sound. I've tried mp3 on all available player and even went to control center to test the card...NO LUCK. Bare with me on commands and hard fixes since I am truly a newb to linux.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mario |

Take a closer look at Kmix. There are probably several settings for output; you just have to find the right one. If there's someting like "mixer output", simply test all available settings for it. |

You may also want to disable the ARTS sound server in kcontrol center. |

xmms should configured to use kmix or alsamix and not only tu use one of the output-devices like PCM. By doing this you can raise or lower the outputlevel with this mixers but never with xmms self, and vice versa. |
