Hello, I installed Easter RC2 yesterday along with the ati drivers and 2.6.16.16-kanotix-1 kernel after playing with gentoo (int was taking too long). Now however, my lack of fidelity has cost me the ability to switch consoles (ctr-f1, etc). The system hangs and I have to hold the power button to reboot.
Prior to flirting with gentoo, I had been using kanotix 2004-04 and an ati driver installed using the script- this was done several months ago, and as I recall, I could switch consoles back then without hanging the system.
Anyone know if this is a problem w/ RC2 and I should go to RC4, or if it's an ATI problem? Thanks so much |

ATI Drivers have had this bug for a very long time. Its a known issue and ATI just recently fixed it in 8.25.18, which are the newest drivers. |

It's fixed? I have the driver you mention on an Easter RC4 install, and my system definitely hangs when I try to change consoles. Could it be the problem is only solved for newer cards? I have a mobility 9600. I live with it, but it's a bother. Next time I'm going nvidia. |
