          | Ms. Cuddles remind me about Knoppix Game DVD. You should use it to drive test all those games and decide which ones to install in Kanotix.
You don't have a DVD burner? you can modify grub so can boot from the iso.
 Don't have linux at work, but win$. you can win$ PMI: http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic. ... 3731a04b3d

No Kidding?!!
I've never tried my sidewinder gamepad but I was just playing Supertux and thinking to myself that if I could use a gamepad it would absolutely rule! I just assumed it wouldn't work.....I gotta try it now. Any thing I need to know?

I dunno, I bought a usb gamepad (looks exactly like a ps2 gamepad) for $5 at a computer show, pluged it in and it works like a charm under kanotix. Windows on the other hand....
If you use the zsnes emulator just assign the buttons in the config menu and it should work. I also have a serial sidewinder but haven't tried it at all, I like this one better. Let me know how it goes.

          | I like Vegastrike , too. I can "kill" it with escape and q. but I cannot run the setup nor the vslauncher. cannot have my own pilot, cannot change any options (video, audio, gamespeed etc) with windows it works, isnt it funny? :/ and whenever I have more than 150.000 credits, its lagging like it was trying to tell me: spend your money or die. the most annoying thing, cause its unbelievable hard to buy a better ship or even a better upgrade. Vegastrike developers seem not to care about it, no response from my "bug reports", sent them logs and all... the hints in the vegastrike forum dont work. All in all Vegastrike is a mess, but a great game. People I love dont need to be perfect.
 why should games be?^^

          | I was just about to add torcs to this list myself. I play a few driving games like NFS and GTA San Andreas (which I have managed to run in Kanotix with cedega) and I have to say what torcs lacks in graphics it makes up for in gameplay/drivability. It reminds me of the old PS game Tocca in feel. It's a ripper of a game.
Also add kpat to the list. It's a very slick solitaire game.

          | For games, I would suggest installing Synaptic and using the "games and amusement" category in Synaptic to search. There are hundreds available.
 Michael

P.S. For sudoku fans, I would suggest KSudoku.

          | my favorite linux game has to be Frozen Bubble (#apt-get install frozen-bubble). just plain addicting.
but then i'm a retro-gamer at heart so i do most of my linux gaming with ZSNES. other good emus are FCE Ultra (which still doesn't have a GUI, but hey, it works) and VisualBoy Advance. all can be installed through apt-get/synaptic. if you're into PSX games, there's PCSX and ePSXe. ePSXe is considered to be the best PSX emu but it isn't available from the default repositories, and you need a copy of the PSX BIOS to use it. i'm still on the lookout for a good N64 emulator, because Mupen64 isn't quite there yet. i'm hoping that they post Project64 to Linux.

wolfenstein enemy territory is the best game ever.

it runs great on linux, i've been running it on kanotix for quite some time now.

you can get a download of it right here
http://enemy-territory.4players.de:1041 ... name=files
there's also links to download from www.planetwolfenstein.com
 I have to second that.

          | I have Quake 3 Arena. I just installed it on my box running Kanotix 2005-04. It runs fine but I have no sound. It mentions that it uses the oss driver, and I know that I have arts running because of kde. Sound works fine otherwise. On my previous machine (running Libranet) I also had kde (2.2.2) and had no problem with audio. Anyone using Quake 3 on Kanotix? |

          | Hi,
one of my favorites is "The Incredible Machine" - an old DOS game (Sierra) from 1992 (anybody remembers?). Found my old disk and tried it in dosbox (apt-get install dosbox) - hours of fun!

          | People have already mentioned some of the more graphics intensive games available for free such as Enemy Territory, UT2004 (demo) and Quake 4 (demo). One I have not seen mentioned is America's Army, it's a free multiplayer fps, you can d/l it from the link below.
