Hallo zusammen,

Ich versuche seit geraumer Zeit meine interne Grafikkarte zu
beschleunugen. Der Grund ist eigentlich nicht Spiele spielen
zu wollen, sondern Google Earth etwas flotter zu machen.

Auszug lspci :

glxinfo |grep direct oder glxinfo | grep direct

funktioniert leider nicht -->command not found

müssen fehlende Packete nachinstalliert werden ?

Hallo Kano,

nach einem Update konnte ich mesa-utils installieren
doch jetzt bekomme ich die Fehlermeldung:

Error: unable to open display (null)

Heißt das die Hardwarebeschleunigung ist generell
nicht möglich ?

Seit Xorg 7 ist m. E. Hardware-Beschleunigung im VIA-Treiber von Xorg 'eingebaut'.
Ich habe in meinem Läppi auch VIA-onboard-Grafik und glxinfo zeigt hier:
display: :0 screen: 0
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.2
.......
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI UniChrome (KM400) 20050526
........

Ach ja: Mein Läppi: Acer 1355 LC, AMD 2600+ VIA-onboard, 15'' TFT usw.
